Billy Mays cause of death: Hypertensive heart disease - Billy Mays cause of death was hypertensive heart disease according to autopsy report. Billy Mays cause of death continues to be a subject of great speculation across the Internet. It was suspected that Billy Mays died as a result of an injury (head trauma) he suffered when he was on a US Airways flight on June 27th that resulted in him being hit on the head by luggage that fell from an overhead compartment during an emergency landing.

Later on, preliminary autopsy reports suggested that Pitchman Billy Mays died as a result of hypertensive heart disease, after it was found out that his heart had a bigger size than normal. This disease is common heart disease that can have a fatal ending.

The coroner reported that Billy was a victim of hypertensive heart disease and that there were no internal or external head injuries. Reports say that the left ventricle of Mays’ heart was enlarged indicating heart disease. Hypertensive heart disease is characterized by an enlarged heart due to high blood pressure.

Now - although final autopsy results will be announced in several weeks - it seem that the Tampa coroner believes that the cause of death could be a pulmonary embolism. There are many different possible causes and so far this one remains as part of the official version.
